"An environment-based education movement--at all levels of education--will help students realize that school isn't supposed to be a polite form of incarceration, but a portal to the wider world."

Nature
Part of our curriculum involves teaching children about the importance of environmental conservation, and paving the way toward being good stewards of the earth by reconnecting with nature. There is a natural attraction between children and the earth, whether it's playing in the mud or discovering a germinating seed emerge from the soil. There is a danger in these times of children being so plugged into television and video games or rushing to and fro to extracurricular activities that they've lost their connection to the natural world. AWC provides our students with an antidote to 'nature deficit disorder' by offering a range of programs that get them back to nature.
