Yacep - YOGA ALLIANCE CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAM

To maintain compliance with Yoga Alliance, instructors must complete 30 hours of continuing education every three years. This education can include  workshops, classes (including online), and other educational activities related to yoga. Akesia Whole Child offers the following online YACEP courses towards helping teachers maintain these YA requirements.

In addition to continuing education, instructors are also required to log 45 hours of teaching yoga classes within the same three-year period. This ensures that teachers remain active and engaged in their practice while continuing to develop their skills, ensuring high-quality instruction to their students.

The ancient Indian science of yoga places great emphasis on learning and understanding the subtle mechanics of the chakras. In the ancient science of pranayama (the yoga of conscious breathing), various methods to identify the presence of the movement of energy in the body are prescribed. By mastering these techniques, Yogis can accomplish much by using the least possible amount of energy.

In this program, we will be discussing the subtle aspects of the chakra centers and how they interact with and enhance or impede local and systemic health of the human body. The nervous and circulatory systems are certainly vehicles to move physical impulses and blood, however the messages of the chakra system, while subtle, are no less essential in their affect on holistic health.

A growing number of studies are finding that specialized yoga programs can benefit youth who have experienced trauma.

The core elements of yoga practice, such as breath work, postures, and meditation, help to equip youth with skills to handle stress and trauma-responses. Through this training, you'll learn to tailor yoga to their unique needs, emphasizing physical postures, breathing, relaxation, emotional awareness, cognitive skills, and social connections.

A trauma-informed yoga practice can strengthen the mind and body connection, helping to reduce overstimulation and reactivity, and encourage relaxation. Yoga can help give youth the power to reclaim control of their bodies and experiences.
